The world is visible. The truth remains out of frame.
Errack is ensnared in a relentless flow of information. Satellites carve pathways through the heavens, their digital eyes tracking Myrkild movements in a choreographed dance of surveillance and strategy. Drones, remote vehicles and exoskeletons extend the reach of armies, while every screen promises that distance has finally been conquered. Humanity can see more of its world than ever before—and mistakes that visibility for understanding.
Global surveillanceWalled megacitiesExoskeleton warfareManaged truth
The world can be watched from orbit and still remain unseen.
Satellites track Myrkild movements, remote-controlled vehicles cross ground too dangerous for crews and rapid-response formations race between borders before conventional armies can mobilise. Technological marvels illuminate the battlefield, but their light is narrow and directed. What falls beyond a sensor cone, a budget line or an authorised feed can remain invisible even while the planet is saturated with observation.
The common folk remain shackled to a military-industrial complex that hoards progress. Behind the walls of megacities, civilians pay more for safety while relying on outdated technology and government agencies for superior protection. Rival blocs conduct false-flag attacks, sabotage and proxy wars beneath a relentless barrage of propaganda; better information has created more ways to manufacture certainty.

What you need to know
Enough context to enter the era without front-loading the encyclopaedia.
People & power
Safety is a service provided on someone else's terms.
Governments, defence contractors and infrastructure monopolies control the networks that keep megacities supplied and defended. Genetic enhancement, advanced medicine and military hardware reach civilian life through contracts designed to preserve dependence rather than distribute power.
Resonance is modelled as a tactical phenomenon and opposed with short-range Noise Field Generators, engineered materials and specialist doctrine. These systems can disrupt a manifestation without explaining why it exists, what it connects to or what prolonged interference changes.
Myrkild are divided into recognised families, mapped through migration signatures and targeted by specialist units. Yet moving subterranean signals, impossible replies and coordinated sensor failures reveal a recurring weakness—the instruments are excellent at confirming what analysts already know how to name.
NEARSIGHT is shaped by multinational blocs and specialist forces whose doctrines reveal what they value—speed, endurance, civil compatibility or control of the information surrounding a war.
A multinational expeditionary coalition pairing boxy, modular military systems with unusually strong civil and logistical compatibility.
Aquillan Seas Trade Union
A democratic maritime and economic alliance whose influence reaches through trade, intelligence sharing and the wars fought by smaller partner states.
What people know
The world is understood from inside the century.
Each age interprets its evidence through the institutions, instruments and fears it possesses. Greater visibility does not guarantee a complete explanation.
Visible
Satellites, drones and sensor networks reveal movements, emissions and patterns that earlier eras could never have recorded at planetary scale.
Modelled
Institutions turn those observations into threat maps, prediction engines and doctrine. The model becomes policy long before anyone can prove it is complete.
Missing
Blackouts, subterranean signals and replies to transmissions no station remembers sending show that the network's blind spots are not empty. Something can understand the observer without being understood in return.
The record of the age
History survives as footage, telemetry and edited testimony.
The timeline below follows deployments, contracts, quarantines, recoveries and system failures that define NEARSIGHT. Nearly everything is recorded; far less is released without alteration.
