ENTROPY

Era IV · ENTROPY

Humanity reaches the stars and finds the siege already waiting.

This is the twilight of mankind. As Errack burns, the remnants of civilisation endure as rare and fragile relics amid ashen wastelands, fortress-cities and abandoned infrastructure. Humanity has cast its gaze skyward in search of refuge and resources, only to meet the Naranor face-to-face across the cold expanse of the Degel System. The old struggle has escaped the planet; survival is now measured in habitats, fleets and light-minutes.

The world right now

The old dominion is ash. Survival has become a multi-world campaign.

Across scorched Errack, Myrkild prowl through the ruins of humanity's former dominion while the surviving population huddles behind colossal walls. Cities such as Kisara remain grim fortifications that defy both time and fate, but every bastion is dependent on ageing shields, rationed atmosphere and supply routes that can be severed from orbit.

Humanity seeks refuge among stations, moons and distant settlements. The Imperium Coalition is an uneasy union forged in crisis, while independent fortress-fleets and civilian pathfinders create their own redundancies. Beyond them, the Naranor no longer exist as a rumour hidden behind malformed evidence. Their relays, vessels and impossible geometries make the scale of the surrounding threat impossible to ignore.

Primer

What you need to know

Enough context to enter the era without front-loading the encyclopaedia.

People & power

Unity is necessary, temporary and heavily armed.

Coalitions, fortress-fleets, habitat authorities and military commands govern populations whose survival systems cannot tolerate prolonged political paralysis. Cooperation is real, but so are rationing, compulsory augmentation and the fear that any ally may preserve itself by abandoning the rest.

The Wyrd

Resonance is infrastructure—and infrastructure can answer back.

Resonance is engineered into transit structures, weapons, communications and altered bodies. Gate ignition can fold distance and make interplanetary survival possible, but every successful corridor also demonstrates that humanity is manipulating a structure it did not create and cannot fully contain.

Beyond Errack

The enemy now occupies the same sky.

Naranor relays and vessels confirm an organised nonhuman presence operating beyond human scale. Vacuum sieges, signal echoes and contested memories force commanders to treat distance, information and identity as active terrain rather than passive conditions.

Powers of the age

The banners that shape ENTROPY

The powers of ENTROPY are coalitions, mobile fortresses, migration fleets and nonhuman civilisations. Territory matters less than who can preserve life, move through the void and survive the loss of a world.

Imperium Coalition

An uneasy union of former rival blocs combining military reach, industry and surviving orbital infrastructure against a threat no member can face alone.

Juggernaut Compact

Independent fortress-fleets bound by mutual rescue, ammunition interchange and shared protocols for contact with the Naranor.

Pathfinder fleets

Civilian-led exodus formations establishing redundant settlements beyond mapped war corridors and the authority of the old planetary powers.

Naranor

Distributed bio-mechanical powers whose relays, vessels and assembled bodies operate across scales that human strategy is only beginning to comprehend.

What people know

The world is understood from inside the century.

Each age interprets its evidence through the institutions, instruments and fears it possesses. Greater visibility does not guarantee a complete explanation.

Confirmed
The Naranor are real, organised and technologically capable of operating across interplanetary distances. Resonant gates and nonhuman relays can connect regions once separated by years of travel.
Contested
The personhood of selected Myrkild intelligences, the legitimacy of compulsory augmentation and the authority of emergency coalitions divide humanity even during existential war.
Beyond reach
Humanity can now name the larger threat, but it cannot yet measure its full extent, recover the history behind every ancient structure or know whether the signals beyond mapped space are invitation, warning or targeting solution.

The record of the age

History is written across ruins, black boxes and light-years.

The timeline below follows disclosures, exoduses, gate ignitions, schisms and vacuum sieges that define ENTROPY. The surviving record is distributed across worlds because no single archive is expected to endure.

Chronological list

This list remains available when the interactive timeline cannot run.

  1. 11,403

    The First Confirmed Naranor Relay

A deep-range array identified an artificial relay whose geometry matched no human or Myrkild construction.

  2. 14 Þriðimanuthur, 11,418

    The Abberath Disclosure

Leaked archives revealed that Abberath manifestations had been catalogued, cultivated and suppressed for centuries.

  3. 11,431 — 11,437

    The Pathfinder Exodus

Civilian pathfinder fleets departed Errack in staggered waves to establish redundant human settlements beyond mapped war corridors.

  4. Annarrmanuthur, 11,446

    The Juggernaut Compact

Independent fortress-fleets agreed to mutual rescue, ammunition interchange and shared Naranor contact protocols.

  5. 13 Blodmanuthur, 11,462 — 16 Sólmanuthur, 11,464

The Vacuum Siege of Satol Reach

Naranor vessels isolated Satol Reach and fought a siege in which distance, momentum and memory became contested terrain.

  6. Sextimanuthur, 11,479

    The Vodr Signal Bloom

A dormant Vodr artefact emitted a system-wide pattern interpreted as message, map and biological instruction.

  7. 11 Elleftamanuthur, 11,502

    The Myrkild Amnesty Schism

A proposal to recognise selected Myrkild intelligences as legal persons divided human governments and hunter orders.

  8. 16 Sólmanuthur, 11,517

    GARMIR Gate Ignition

The GARMIR transit structure opened a stable corridor through folded space for eleven minutes.

  9. 16 Sólmanuthur, 11,517

    The Gate Ignition Echo

Minutes after the GARMIR corridor closed, an identical ignition signature appeared beyond the mapped edge of human space.

  10. Engimanutur 02, 11,596

    The Last Calendar Correction

On a leap intercalary day, the major human polities reconciled their drifting clocks to one civil chronology for the last time.
